'Doctor Who' season 10 spoilers news: John Barrowman expected to appear in Christmas special

John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness in \"Doctor Who\" spinoff \"Torchwood\" | BBC One

Actor John Barrowman once again teased his possible return in the "Doctor Who" universe, this time, during his appearance on "The One Show."

When asked if he'd be suiting up as the beloved Captain Jack Harkness anytime soon, he said, "I'd love to, keep watching." The "Arrow" star added that "it's not up to me" but urged fans to stay tuned.

Barrowman first teased the possibility of his "Doctor Who" comeback when he said that he will be back in Cardiff, which is known for being the center of the production of the sci-fi franchise.

"I will be back in Cardiff in about a week and a half... but I'm not telling you what for," Barrowman said via Den of Geek. This prompted rumors about the actor stepping back into the Whoniverse.

It is expected that Barrowman's "Doctor Who" stint will be in the Christmas special, where he is said to go on an adventure in time and space with the Twelfth Doctor played by Peter Capaldi.

If this will take place, it will be the first time for Capaldi and Barrowman's characters to interact and share the screen. The latter played his iconic role before the former took up the Time Lord mantle in 2014.

Captain Jack Harness was also the central character in the "Doctor Who" spinoff "Torchwood," which ran from 2006 to 2011.

The Christmas special will be an episode that will be aired prior to the premiere of "Doctor Who" season 10. Capaldi has already said that it is unlikely that the new companion Pearl Mackie will be in it.

"I don't know whether [the new companion] would be involved in the Christmas special, because it's so specific, the story we're doing with the companion," the actor told Radio Times.

Although it will be exciting to see Barrowman as the coward-turned-hero in any "Doctor Who" projects in the future, fans will have to wait for more updates to see if it ever comes to pass.
