'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' release date news 2016: Story connects with 'Dragon Ball Super'?
With the idea of time-travel involved, new theories claiming that the highly-anticipated "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" connects with the "Dragon Ball Super" anime come to light.
Some fans believe that the current arc in the anime, which is the Future Trunks arc, is linked to the upcoming game through Goku Black and Future Trunks.

According to speculations, Future Trunks in the anime and Future Trunks in the game are one and the same. In "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2," Future Trunks was made a member of the Time Patrol after being found out of abusing time.
It is believed that this will be his fate in "Dragon Ball Super," where he went back in time to warn Goku and the others of the villainous Goku Black, who destroyed his planet and other universes.
Goku Black looks exactly like Goku save for his earring, black ki and the time ring, whose symbol looks identical to the one on the foreheads of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" villains Janemba and Broly as seen in the trailer.
Considering that Future Trunks has no future to go back to as Goku Black destroyed it all, it would not be difficult to imagine Future Trunks as a guardian of time.
It is also believed that Goku Black being a pre-order bonus for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" further hints that the game is somehow connected to "Dragon Ball Super."
It is important to note that this is merely speculation for now. Although time-travel has always been a thing in the "Dragon Ball" universe, this will be the first time that a game could potentially affect the outcome of an anime arc.
"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will be released on Oct. 25 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in North America and Oct. 28 in Europe. "Dragon Ball Super" airs every Sunday in Japan on Fuji TV.
