'Empire' season 3 spoilers: Cookie won't be down for long

Lucious' (Terrence Howard) surprise decision of marrying Anika (Grace Gealey) proved to be a painful move on Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), but that's not going to stop her from getting what she wants in the next season of "Empire."
In the previous installment, Hakeem's (Bryshere Y. Gray) wedding was ruined by Lucious marrying Hakeem's ex-fiancée. Considering the improving relationship between Cookie and Lucious, the move shocked a lot of "Empire" viewers. Lucious' intentions in marrying Anika are still unclear, but one thing was certain to everyone: Cookie did not like what happened.
TV Guide managed to talk to "Empire" executive producer Sanaa Hamri, and she said that, even though Cookie was certainly hurt, she will shake off the incident and resume with business as usual. To Cookie, there will always be a special bond between her and Lucious, and their children are solid reminders of that "emotional connection."
This coming season, fans can expect a lot of flashbacks concerning the history between Cookie and Lucious. The series is reportedly looking for young actors to play the part of the teenage versions of the power couple. In previous flashback episodes, Howard and played the younger version of the characters themselves; but this time, the production seems to be looking for actors and actresses who are 18 and younger.
Lee Daniels, creator of "Empire," even revealed plans for a Cookie Lyon spin-off series that will focus on Cookie's background as she was born and raised in North Philadelphia, not to mention with several other sisters, according to TV Line. Daniels went on to share that the series would focus on Cookie's beginnings and delve more into her family history.
Will Cookie get back at Lucious in the coming season of "Empire?" Or will she truly stay platonic and let bygones be bygones? Viewers can find out this coming Sept. 21, when "Empire" season 3 returns on FOX.
