'Fairy Tail' chapter 491 spoilers, 490 recap: Zeref and Mavis battle it out; Zera and Gajeel are related?
In chapter 490 of the Japanese shonen manga "Fairy Tail," the great battle between Mavis and Zeref has begun.
In the chapter, titled "Fairy Tail Zero," Mavis walks into the guild hall to look for her friends but finds Zeref instead. Meanwhile, Fiore, its structures, and its inhabitants have been reorganized, leaving people confused after finding themselves in completely different locations. And in an unknown region, Zera appears as an apparition in front of Gajeel.
The latest chapter, which is now out courtesy of My Manga, Manga Mint, and others, sees Mavis finally regaining consciousness and going in search of the other Fairy Tail guild members. Similarly, Natsu and Lucy also come to and find themselves in a strangely altered Fiore, with its landscape and all of its establishments appearing to have been rearranged. Natsu discovers that he has deflected part of August's magic, which is apparently composed of heat.
Meanwhile, the other Fairy Tail guild members are also coming to the realization that they have ended up in a totally different place, right alongside the Alvarez Empire army as it prepares to battle opposing forces.
A mysterious being appears in front of Gajeel, who has lived through the effects of Etherion. The apparition introduces itself as Zera, Mavis' imaginary friend. She tells Gajeel that she is the Fairy of Origin.
With all these different events coming to pass, things will almost certainly come to a climax in chapter 491, which is titled "Mother and Child." With Zeref and Mavis now face to face, "Fairy Tail" fans are set to find out whether or not the dark wizard will be able to take the Fairy Heart away from Fairy Tail's original master.
Over on Reddit, "Fairy Tail" fans are speculating that the battle between Mavis and Zeref could find the former making use of her full arsenal of magical powers.
Meanwhile, there are a variety of possible twists for Zera's return, including (1) that she "wields the true power of Fairy Heart," (2) that Gajeel is, in fact, in purgatory, and (3) that Zera and Gajeel are somehow related. Fans will see which of these theories will play out in "Fairy Tale" chapter 491.
