'Fear the Walking Dead' season 2 spoilers: Nick hatches crazy idea

Nick (Frank Dillane) is going solo in \"Fear the Walking Dead\" season 2. | AMC

When "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 returns on air, Nick (Frank Dillane) starts to explore the new world alone, walking among the dead.

In the upcoming "Fear the Walking Dead" episodes, fans will watch him find the place he thinks he belongs in, one "where people see the dead the way he does" as per showrunner Dave Erickson.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Erickson revealed that Nick will be in search of place where the walkers are not seen as threat or danger, "but as an extension of themselves – sort of an evolution."

In the latter half of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2, Nick set for himself a goal, which is to find people who think like him and "will give him some clues along the way."

"And then it sort of falls into the be-careful-what-you-wish-for category. When he actually gets to a place with some degree of spiritual comfort for him. It's not going to last very long," Erickson teased.

Nick will be alone and away from everyone for a while, but he will still find his way back to the others in "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2.

It remains a mystery how his experience and the fact that what he thought as a place of comfort crumbled easily before his very eyes will affect him when he finally reunites with the group.

Nick's journey won't be easy, of course. The new image from "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 shows him hiding from an unseen threat.

In a teaser for the latter half of the season, Nick can be seen asleep in an abandoned building when an unseen individual wielding a bat slowly goes to him, looking like Nick was about to get a Negan-style beating.

The back of half of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 will follow how and when the group reunites. The midseason premiere will be n Sunday, Aug. 21 on AMC.
