'Fear the Walking Dead' season 2 spoilers, plot news: Daniel to be a walker?

Before the midseason break of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2, the fate of Daniel Salazar (Ruben Blades) hangs in the balance.

The last time he was seen, he was surrounded by the fire that he started himself in his effort to eliminate the walkers. He appeared to be trapped in the flames like the walkers were.

Executive producer Dave Erickson has already revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Daniel will not be in the remaining episodes of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2, and will be presumed dead by the rest of the group.

However, they haven't been specific on his true situation. Erickson said that the cliffhanger on his storyline was made in order to "spin Ofelia (Mercedes Masohn) in a new direction."

His fate will not be addressed in the rest of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2, but his absence will be a key part of some character development.

However, Erickson teased that "in terms of the arc of the show, this is not the last we see of Daniel Salazar," but for "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2, he is "done."

With regards to what really happened to him after he set off the fire in the midseason finale of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2, Undead Walking believes that he might have either been killed and will eventually turn into a walker.

However, the site thinks that it will be a shame to kill off such an aggressive character, who, as seen over the course of "Fear the Walking Dead," is prepared to do anything just to get his family to safety.

At the same time, the site says that seeing him as a walker and having him seen by Nick (Frank Dillane), who isn't all over the idea of "killing" zombies, will certainly be an interesting premise and will be a key development to the latter as well.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait for "Fear the Walking Dead" season 3 to learn what really happened to Daniel.
