'Fear the Walking Dead' season 2 spoilers, plot news: Nick goes solo in new image, meets Negan-like baddie?

Nick (Frank Dillane) is going solo in \"Fear the Walking Dead\" season 2. | AMC

AMC has offered new details about Nick's (Frank Dillane) whereabouts in "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 in the form of a promotional image and a teaser.

In the first half of the second season, Nick chose to leave the group and continue on his own after what happened to Celia (Marlene Forte), who Madison (Kim Dickens) did not want her son getting close to for fear she is not worthy of their trust.

Nick decided to run off, and as seen in the "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 promo image released by AMC recently, he is treading the unobstructed, long highway free of zombies and anything else.

Although walkers won't be much of his problems, a Negan-like baddie may be, if the teaser for "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 is anything to go by.

In the short clip, Nick appears to have found a place to crash for the night. He was asleep when someone with a baseball bat quietly approached him.

It is unknown what this unseen person plans to do with Nick, who opened his eyes just as the person reached him. Fans will have to wait for the return of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 next month to learn who this person is.

Although Nick broke off from the group, it was already confirmed by executive producer Dave Erickson that he will reconnect with some in "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 episode 8.

With that said, there is a possibility that the baseball-wielding mystery individual is someone from the group. It could be either Travis (Cliff Curtis) or Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie), who are both separated from the rest as well.

It might also be a completely different character. For now, these are the mysteries that are set to be answered in "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2.

"Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 returns Monday, Aug. 22 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
