'Fear the Walking Dead' season 2B spoilers: Abigail crew loses two members, Ofelia will never be the same

In the midseason finale of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2, viewers watched Daniel (Ruben Blades) seemingly burn with the mansion he set on fire after seeing visions and flashbacks.
Fans fear that the Salazar patriarch is done for, but "Fear the Walking Dead" executive producer Dave Erickson told Entertainment Weekly that Daniel is not going anywhere just yet.
"We don't see Daniel burn, and that's intentional," Erickson said. The rest of the Abigail crew, however, thinks that he died and his "death" will "spin Ofelia specifically in a new direction" in "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2.
"What we'll focus on going into the back half of this season is the impact it has on specifically his daughter because Ofelia is somebody who really was kind of trapped in her life," Erickson said.
It isn't clear what condition Daniel is in at the moment and fans will be in the dark for a while since Blades won't be appearing in the rest of the episodes of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2.
It is likely that everything about Daniel's situation will be revealed in season 3, but Erickson said he simply has "hope" the character will be in the next season of "Fear the Walking Dead."
For now, viewers can find comfort in Erickson's promise that Daniel's story is "not done." Although he is gone for now, the great thing about how the midseason finale handled his supposed death is that he got some closure.
He saw his past before him and all the horrible things he had done and everything he had lost in the form of his late wife Griselda (Patricia Reyes Spindola).
In addition to Daniel, the Abigail crew will be far smaller in "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 as Nick (Frank Dillane) wanders off. Erickson teased that he has reasons for going away and fans will learn of that in the midseason premiere.
"Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 will premiere on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
