'Five Nights At Freddy's' movie release date news: Book series announced as production continues

In the midst of the production of the "Five Nights At Freddy's" movie, developer Scott Cawthon strikes a deal with Scholastic to publish a young-adult series inspired by the horror games.

The first book on the list is the "Five Nights At Freddy's: The Silver Eyes," which was self-published last year and was written by Cawthon and Kira Breed-Wrisley.

The book will be released in paperback format October this year. Two more "Five Nights At Freddy's" titles will followâ€” one for next year and another for 2018.

Scholastic's publisher of global licensing and media consumer products vice president Debra Dorfman said in a statement that they are "thrilled" to bring "Five Nights At Freddy's" to the medium.

"This spine-chilling series expands upon unsolved mysteries of the game's lore as well as bring new fans unfamiliar with the games to a new, hair-raising series to read," she said via Galley Cat.

The books will definitely help fans get by the long wait for the "Five Nights At Freddy's" movie, which is still in the scriptwriting stage.

There hasn't been any update on the development of the film as the last time Cawthon spoke about it was back in May. At that time, he said that the script is still the focus.

Back in April, director Gil Kenan extinguished the fears of the fans that the "Five Nights At Freddy's" movie was canceled due to the silence of the team following the announcement.

Although it has already been more than a year since the film was announced, it appears that the scriptwriting is taking the team a bit of time, but it certainly does not mean that the project is off.

Kenan plans to shy away from using computer-generated imagery (CGI) in bringing to life the animatronics, which are the center of the "Five Nights At Freddy's" movie.

The director is enlisting Jim Henson's Creatures to make real-life versions of Freddy Fazbear and the gang for the film.

The "Five Nights At Freddy's" movie has no release date yet, but it is expected to be released in 2018.
