The popular indie survival horror video game series "Five Nights at Freddy's" ("FNaF") will continue with an upcoming spin-off titled "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location."

"FNaF" creator and developer Scott Cawthon unveiled the sixth commercial offering in his point-and-click video game franchise via a debut trailer on Saturday, May 21. "FNaF: Sister Location" was also revealed via an update on Cawthon's official website.

While details about the upcoming installment are still scarce, the first trailer is nonetheless filled with various hints and little clues that the "Five Nights at Freddy's" community have no doubt been tearing apart for tips on what "Sister Location" is all about. As "FNaF" fans know, Cawthon has always been very clever about his teasers, so despite the efforts of many, there still might not be much to glean from the first trailer.

What is known for certain is that the new installment to the video game series about a bunch of homicidal animatronic characters is set in what appears to be an underground bunker. What the animatronic villains are doing there and why the bunker was built in the first place are questions that will most likely only be answered when the game is released.

According to the trailer, "Sister Location" will hit store shelves sometime this fall, which could mean sometime in October and even possibly a Halloween release. Nonetheless, as VG 24/7 notes, Cawthon is known for early releases, meaning that the new "FNaF" could drop as early as August.

Prior to "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location," Cawthon released four main "FNaF" games as well as a spin-off role-playing game called "Five Nights at Freddy's World" and a novel titled "Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes."

According to Touch Arcade, "Sister Location" may be related to "The Silver Eyes," in which the original creator of the animatronic characters built other creatures for other locations.

"Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" is scheduled for release in fall 2016.
