Disney CEO Robert Iger said that Disney is taking their time in developing the sequel to 2013's mega-hit animated musical film, "Frozen."

According to Iger, this move aims to ensure the quality of the much-anticipated sequel. "We're not demanding speed. We're demanding excellence," he said in a previous interview.

With a billion dollar gross worldwide, it's no wonder that Disney is being careful with how the sequel is to be received. Reports say the sequel is likely to hit theaters sometime in 2018. Disney also assures fans that what they're working for will be worth the long wait.

This isn't the first time that long-anticipated movies have delayed production in order to deliver a "better" movie for fans. Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman" was being developed in 2013, but the production pushed the release date back to 2016 in order to work further on the film's quality. The move doesn't always prove to be successful though, as "BvS" received mixed reviews from the audiences and was critiqued to be "too bloated."

Disney seems to be on a roll with their animated films, and some crtitics are even claiming that the audience is currently undergoing a second "Disney Renaissance," a phenomenon that happened sometime in the '90s where Disney was dishing out hit after hit. The so-called Renaissance started with "The Little Mermaid," followed by classics like "The Lion King," "Aladdin," and "Beauty and the Beast." It ended with the release of "Tarzan" in 1999, and all subsequent films seemed to falter from that point, with Disney competing with Dreamworks Animation.

With the release of "Tangled" back in 2010, Disney has been getting critical and public praise once more. Some even consider that the company has finally gotten out of Pixar's shadow, as it managed to dole out hits of its own, like "Wreck-It-Ralph," "Zootopia," and "Frozen."

Though no official plot has been officially announced by Disney, fans are speculating that the upcoming "Frozen" sequel will be about Elsa falling into a romance. Other reports also claimed that the story may focus on Anna finding out that she is adopted, and Tarzan coming to Arendelle to claim his throne.
