'General Hospital' spoilers, plot recap 2016: Michael crushed by Sabrina's death; Tyler Christopher leaves show

The "General Hospital" episode for Thursday, Sept. 15, was a tragic one for Michael (Chad Duell). The love of his life has died and it's never going to be the same again.

As fans may recall from the previous episode, Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) was murdered by General Hospital serial killer Paul (Richard Burgi). She was choked to death after trying to save Monica (Leslie Charleson) from the attacker. Sabrina could have lived longer if she didn't step in harm's way but she's dead now, just like Michael's dreams.

For Thursday's episode, spoilers revealed that Michael was supposed to propose to Sabrina. He planned to go to the hospital to look for her and then ask her to spend the rest of her life with him. He bumped into Felix (Marc Samuel) and told him happily about his plans of marriage. He even showed off the ring.

But his smiles soon turn to tears when he found Sabrina's lifeless body. Horrified with what he and Felix see, Michael becomes crushed by the tragedy. He is heartbroken and it seems like he will be in a period of grief in the episodes to come.

Meanwhile, Monica survived the attack but is in the ICU fighting for her life. Jason (Billy Miller) finds out about his mother's ordeal and rushes to the hospital to see her. He catches her on life support and looking very frail, as if she is close to dying.

Jason gets very emotional and tells his unconscious mother to live and beat the struggle. Tracy (Jane Elliot) will also be very worried for Monica. She also begs her to live and tells her that she can't imagine life without her.

In other news, Tyler Christopher is no longer returning to the soap opera. This means that his character, Nikolas, will be missing in action. Although Nikolas has already been presumed dead by many, his storyline still has plenty of loose ends. It is yet unknown how ABC will address the issue.

"General Hospital" airs weekdays on ABC.
