'Gilmore Girls' revival news, update & spoilers: Lorelai and Luke still in a relationship; wedding to come?
"Gilmore Girls" is returning after a decade-long hiatus and loyal fans are already excited to see the mother-daughter duo of Stars Hollow.
The revival, which is aptly titled as "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" is set to premiere Friday, Nov. 25, in Netflix and it will be featuring a four-part story arc, each covering a different season of the year. Each episode will be 90 minutes long, beginning with the "Winter" and ending with the "Fall."
The best part is that there is no need to wait for another week to catch the next episode after "Winter" as all four will be dropped on the online streaming platform in the same day.
As detailed by Cosmopolitan, almost all of the original characters will return for the revival. But the show will of course be missing Edward Hermann who played Richard Gilmore in all seven seasons. He died last year but his absence will be addressed in the show. Spoilers said that the series will pick up four months after Richard's death. The episode is also said to be a tribute to Hermann.
Main stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel will both reprise their roles as Lorelai Gilmore and Rory Gilmore respectively. Scott Patterson will also be back to play Lorelai's ultimate lover, Luke Danes. And as revealed in reports, the two will still be very much in a relationship when the series arrives.
A teaser photo shows the two of them at one of Star Hollow's landmarks, the Black-White-Red Bookstore/Theatre. It seems like they are on a movie date but Lorelie becomes distracted when she has to answer a phone call. It's not revealed who the caller is but it must be very important, considering how much Luke hates cellphones.
Nonetheless, word has it that the two will take their relationship to the next level. Fans are speculating that perhaps the reason why series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino chose the winter season first because it's the perfect time for Lorelai and Luke to get married. But will their wish be granted?
