Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee has released another variant for its Gionee S6, which was released back in November. Dubbed as the Gionee S6 Pro, the device serves as a successor with a bit of upgrade on the hardware.

According to GSM Arena, the Pro variant still sports the same 5.5-inch screen size. The difference though is that it now comes with an IPS display and a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. The predecessor arrived with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 pixels only.

Under the hood of the S6 Pro is also an upgraded chipset. It comes with a 1.8GHz MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755m processor with an octa-core Cortex-A53 and a Mali-T860MP2 graphics processing unit. Its RAM count is 4 GB while its internal storage space is 64 GB. Users can opt to expand up to 128 GB via a microSD card slot.

As for the camera specs, Gadgets 360 noted that the device features a 13-megapixel primary camera at the rear. It is enhanced with phase-detection autofocus. The front comes with an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Tech 2 also detailed that the front of the Gionee S6 Pro comes with a fingerprint reader, which doubles as the home button. The company boasts that the sensor has the ability to unlock the handset in just 0.1 seconds. The pre-installed operating system is Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo 2.3 launcher. Powering it up is a 3130mAh battery pack. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, FM, 3G, 4G as well as USB Type-C port.

With an all metal-build and a measurement of 153.00 x 75.20 x 7.60 (height x width x thickness), the device comes in three color options: Gold, Silver, and Rose Gold. The smartphone will be available for sale in China for CNY 1,999 ($300). There is no word yet on whether the S6 Pro will be available globally.
