Go Pro Hero 5 release date and rumors: Device to have sleeker design and GPS

The GoPro Hero 5 is expected to be more handy and streamlined than previous GoPro iterations | GoPro

Go Pro has been the go-to brand when it comes to high-resolution action cameras, and speculations have gone out to say that people can expect the Go Pro Hero 5 to be released before the end of 2016. What's more is that it's said to have a sleeker design and a whole new Global Positioning System.

According to Science World Report, the new built-in GPS feature will allow the camera to document the location of the user whenever they go out to take videos. Another smart guess would be that the GPS will be able to keep track of the camera in the unfortunate event that it gets lost (since it's a pretty small camera).

The Go Pro Hero 5 is also said to be much lighter and thinner than its predecessors — a feature that would come very handy when talking about an action camera. Rumors say that the camera will also allow an 8K Full Ultra HD resolution, the very first of its kind. It will have two types of processors available: Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 chip and the A10 chipset.

The Hero 5 is also expected to feature a 2,800 mAh battery pack, 4K video capability that could record 60 fps, and a waterproof capacity that could withstand a depth of up to 60m.

PC Advisor also reports that the Go Pro Hero 5 will also have a different, more user-friendly interface that would allow easier access to the different camera modes and settings. The device will have a touchscreen interface with a pull-down control panel. The Go Pro Sniper also allows the device to connect to another camera.

The speculated market price for the device is somewhere between $400 and $550.

The Go Pro Hero 5 is expected to hit the market before the end of 2016, but the most likely guess is that it arrives this coming October.
