According to a report, the Hero 5 is going to start selling on Oct. 2 and will be priced at $399. Interested buyers can expect a lot from the new model as it is a major upgrade from its predecessor, the Hero 4 Black.

As detailed in the official website of GoPro, the device will sport a 2-inch touch display which will allow users to preview and play back shots captured. They can also change settings from there and trim footage if they wish to.

The most notable change though is the device's water resistant feature even without its housing. This is a massive upgrade in terms of the physical hardware as the previous versions of the camera necessitate the use of an external waterproof shell in order to use it for taking underwater shots. But reports cited that with the Hero 5 Black, the camera can now survive being immersed in depths of just over 30 feet even without the case.

The new device can also capture 4K footage at up to 30 frames per second. It can also shoot at 2K at 60 frames per second with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 20 frames per second. Image stabilization has also been added to the mix for a smoother output especially when mounted to a gear.

Moreover, the device will also carry stereo recording with three microphones. The voice control feature will allow hands-free control of the GoPro using voice commands. The user can say "GoPro, take a photo" and the device will obey.

There is no word yet regarding a Hero 5 Silver and Hero 5 plain so fans should stay tuned for more updates.
