Fans of the medical drama television series "Grey's Anatomy" will have to start their waiting game again as season 12 has just ended.

The next season is expected to return to the small screen sometime this fall so the continuation to the finale will have to remain unanswered until then. Fortunately, there are some spoilers on what may possibly unfold in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.

According to a report by Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Shonda Rhimes mentioned during an interview for her other show, "Scandal," that "Grey's Anatomy" will be heading a direction that will lead to a more positive theme. The series has been heavy and very emotional the past few seasons so perhaps it's time for it to move to a lighter path.

Fans also saw in the season finale that Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) are now parents. They were supposed to attend Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen's (Kevin Kidd) wedding but had to miss it due to their baby arriving. Jackson and April are no longer together. With their divorce papers finalized, the two are sharing a complicated relationship, with the baby apparently holding them together by a thread.

There's still a chance though that they will be back together in season 13. TVLine detailed that Williams spoke about his and Drew's characters' story.

"Their relationship may not have worked, they might have stumbled along the way, but they did accomplish something. There is a silver lining that kind of buoys them," stated Williams.

He also mentioned that it's not going to be easy for April and Jackson with Catherine's (Debbie Allen) presence. Although Jackson has found a way to keep things at bay with his mother, she may still outsmart him as she is pretty deceptive. But for Williams, everything that Catherine does is for the good of the family.

Fans should stay tuned for more details on "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.
