'Half-Life 3' release date, update: Is the game ever going to get released?

"Half-Life" gamers are still waiting for the day that they will get clear answers regarding the third installment. It's been more than a decade already since the last title in the franchise was released, and until now, details about the "Half-Life 3" are still vague.
According to reports, developer Valve Corporation has been very quiet despite the high demand for the game. But rumors have it that the game studio is working on releasing it sometime in the year 2018. It will arrive just in time to celebrate the game series' 20th-anniversary celebration.
It's also said that Valve is planning on making some changes and major updates to the device, which is why they are taking their time. Moreover, reports say that doing the tweaks will cause big delays because only one-third of Valve's total workforce is focused on the game.
But since the company has been oddly quiet, some are wondering if the game is even ever going to happen. Will "Half-Life 3" come to fruition or will it eventually end up dissolved and gone?
Word has it that the game may either be inactive or in the developmental infancy stage. However, recent proofs showed that the game is still a go despite the silence.
An alleged "Half-Life 3" poster was said to have been spotted at GamesCom 2016. Although, it was later found out to be a poster "paid for by a media company with a sense of humor." Nonetheless, reports said that Valve has transferred to a new and bigger office. With such shift in the workplace, it could mean that the game studio is evolving and growing.
This also suggests that Valve has not abandoned the game especially since it has already built a solid fan base. The company may just be waiting for new hardware to surface. As detailed in a report, "Half-Life 3" may get a VR version. But since VR headsets are not easily available yet, it may not be practical yet to release the game on VR.
As of now, none of the information is confirmed so fans will have to watch out for more updates.
