'Hawaii-Five-0' season 7 speculations: Will a rift form between Danny and Steve?

\"Hawaii-Five-0\" season 7 premieres Sept. 23. | CBS

In the last season of "Hawaii-Five-0," Danny Williams (Scott Caan) saved Steve McGarrett's life (Alex O'Loughlin) by donating his liver for his long-time comrade. Although such a selfless act would mean that the two characters would get closer, fans predict that it might actually do the opposite, and tear them apart.

GameNGuide noted that just because Steve survived the incident doesn't mean that Danny will let him do whatever he wants from now on. As "Hawaii-Five-0" showrunner Peter M. Lenkov stated, Danny's act will bring the two closer together in season 7, but the relationship between the two won't be all "rainbows and butterflies."

Steve has always been a risk-taker even in previous seasons, but this time around, Danny would expect him to watch his back more often. Lenkov explained that Steve will be more reflective of his life next season, and that Steve will try to find a reason for staying in this job after having a closer run-in with death. After all, Danny won't always be around to watch over Steve when he gets into trouble.

Meanwhile, the crew of "Hawaii-Five-0" recently kicked off production on its upcoming season with a Hawaiian blessing in Honolulu. The ceremony, which was held Wednesday, July 6, was attended by the series' cast and crew including the producers. Broadwayworld reported that this ceremony was done in order to honor the Hawaiian culture which is host to the show. The ceremony was centered on the Hawaiian word for "seven," "ehiku," in honor of the show's seventh season. The ceremony was also said to focus on "work done with love."

Steve and Danny are going to need a lot of love this season if their relationship is going to survive. Will they get through the next season in one piece, or is the partnership between the two finally over and done with? Fans should stay tuned and watch their bromance unfold.

"Hawaii-Five-0" season 7 premieres Friday, Sept. 23, at 9 p.m. on CBS.
