'High School Musical 4' plot news: No Troy and Gabriella reunion?

New reports have been claiming that the original lead stars of the "High School Musical" franchise, Zac Efron (Troy) and Vanessa Anne Hudgens (Gabriella), will not have a reunion for the upcoming fourth movie.
GamenGuide reports that the reunion may not take place because of Efron being cast as the replacement for Jamie Dornan in "Fifty Shades Freed." Rumors suggest that Dornan has been fired after skipping the production of the "Fifty Shades Darker" movie to attend to his wife Amelia Warner. "Fifty Shades Freed" is the last book in the E.L. James franchise, and Efron will be taking the part of Christian Grey. Efron and Dornan, however, have not made any comments on these reports, so rumors will have to stay as rumors for now.
"High School Musical" was a surprise hit from Disney Channel back in 2006. The story revolves around two main characters, Troy and Gabriella. The former was a basketball superstar and the latter a certified science geek. The two meet each other and discover a love for music that brings them closer together.
The movie could be considered as a family friendly retelling of the classic "West Side Story," which has two individuals with two different backgrounds falling in love with each other, not to mention that the lead girls are both of ethnic decent (Maria and Gabriella) and the lead boys' names only letters apart (Tony and Troy).
Not much detail has been revealed about the fourth movie, but a possible leaked script has been floating around for a while. It reveals a character named Peyton having a monologue about his love for sports. Kenny Ortega, director of the first three films, is not set to return. Helming the project instead will be Jeffrey Hornaday.
Fans of "High School Musical" should view this as an eventual reboot of the franchise for the younger generation, and even though Hudgens and Efron's appearance isn't confirmed, cameos of other original cast members are sure to be a nostalgic delight.
