'House of Cards' season 5 release date, plot: Next season to be show's last?

"House of Cards" season 5 might end up being the last season of the hit Netflix series starring Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood and Robin Wright as Frank's wife, Claire.
Executive producer Michael Dobbs has admitted that they are now discussing when the show's conclusion will happen.
"That is a very interesting question and one that we are putting our minds to actively, because every show comes to a natural end," Dobbs said in an interview with Daily Express.
He also suggested that "House of Cards" might take the same route as "24" or "Breaking Bad," a well-loved, fan-favorite show that ran for only four seasons.
Although "House of Cards" season 5 might be the end, fans won't see the last of the franchise. Dobbs said that there are people "from other parts of the world interested in doing their own take on "House of Cards."
"It's a hell of a brand. It's been going now for 30 years - it was a success as a book, it was a success as a BBC television series, it is a huge success as a US series," Dobbs stated.
"We'll see what happens with those. It is a global brand, so the question arises: what do we do with a global brand?" the "House of Cards" EP mused.
There are currently tons of speculations regarding what could happen in "House of Cards" season 5. It is being said that Claire will take away the presidency from her husband Frank.
There are also rumors that Frank's most loyal ally Doug (Michael Kelly) will betray his boss for power although some reports say Doug will stick with him no matter what.
"House of Cards" season 5 does not have a release date yet, but based on the premiere dates of the previous seasons, a February or March release is expected.
