'House of Cards' season 5 release date, spoilers: Doug is 'prepared to kill' for Frank
Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) has always been Frank Underwood's greatest ally and he isn't going to stop being the president's most loyal sidekick in "House of Cards" season 5.
In an interview with Gold Derby, Kelly described his loyalty to Frank as an "addiction." The actor explained, "He has to do it to the absolute best of his ability. There's no doubt that he loves Frank."
There are rumors going around that Doug will turn his back on Frank in "House of Cards" season 5. However, Kelly reiterates that his character is "prepared to kill another man for the President."
In the past months, there were speculations that presidency will be stolen away from Frank in "House of Cards" season 5 and it is said that Claire (Robin Wright) will be the one to make that happen.
However, despite his own wife ready to betray him, Frank will always have an ally in Doug. Kelly assured that his character is prepared to go lengths to keep the president of the United States safe.
Kelly also had nothing but praises for "House of Cards" showrunner Beau Willimon, who sadly is stepping down from his post with the show's writers Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese taking over.
The actor recalled what Willimon told him regarding an unforgettable life-or-death scene on "House of Cards" that stuck with Kelly.
"You've never seen it in film or television. It's really cool. Many things have been done but you've never seen someone choked out with a glass before," Kelly said.
Plot details about "House of Cards" season 5 are still vague although many are convinced that Frank is in danger of losing his most precious seat in the White House to his own wife.
Last season, fans watched Claire rise to power and show the same level of greed, ruthlessness and shrewdness Frank had. "House of Cards" season 5 is said to see those elements at play at a greater level this time.
"House of Cards" season 5 is expected to premiere around February or March next year.
