The new Speaker of the House Paul Ryan said in a speech this week that his plan for the 2016 House of Representatives includes a "complete alternative to the left's agenda."

While speaking from the Library of Congress last week, Ryan said that Republican lawmakers must focus on reforming the United States to spur job growth and small business ownership.

"When people know they will keep more of their hard-earned money, they will work more, save more, invest more—and create more jobs for all of us," Ryan said during the speech. "And when there is more work to go around, more people will see their wages go up."

Ryan went on to say that Republican lawmakers must be dedicated to their mission despite differing goals from the presidential administration.

"Only government that sends power back to the people can make America confident again. And we House Republicans will do all we can to give us that government — even if the president disagrees," Ryan added.

Ryan, who recently accepted the position of House Speaker after former Speaker John Boehner stepped down, has been praised by some Republican lawmakers for a more hands-off approach to leadership.

The Wisconsin Representative has also been praised for being inclusive of all Republican politicians, reportedly holding weekly dinners where lawmakers are able to meet and discuss new ideas.

"I was pleased and delighted that he is bringing together people who usually don't associate with each other," Representative Tim Murphy, (R-Pa.) told the New York Times of Ryan recently. "You can see that Speaker Ryan's goal is to get people to understand each other's common goals."
