Huawei Honor 8 price, specs updates: Features 12MP camera, Kirin 950 SoC; priced at $400

Huawei's sub-brand, Honor, has released its second flagship device in the United States, and it is apparently able to compete against top brands Samsung and Apple. Dubbed as the Honor 8, the device is a cheaper version of the recently released Huawei P9.
While the P9 is a stunner at $700, the Honor 8 follows with a starting price of $400. It is now available for pre-order in select stores in the U.S such as Newegg, Best Buy, B&H Photo Video, and HiHonor.com, and according to reports, it will be released on Aug. 26.
The device sports a 5.2-inch 1920×1080 IPS LCD display. It's packed under the hood with an eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor paired with 4 GB of RAM. It also comes with native storage space of 32 GB that can be expanded further via microSD card slot.
There's also a 64 GB model which costs $449.99. And just like the Huawei P9, the camera features of the Honor 8 is an impressive one. As detailed in Engadget, the front panel sports an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture shooter while the rear carries a dual-sensor 12-megpixel camera. Huawei claims that the dual camera system setup captures "three times more light than the single lens."
It also comes with an f/2.2 aperture and has a feature that captures superior details even in low light. Moreover, the Honor 8 is also designed with an intelligent focus feature wherein laser depth data and phase detection are used to focus on subjects. And for those who are into taking bokeh photos, the wide-aperture mode will bring that effect.
There's also a fingerprint sensor at the rear that doubles as a clickable button which can do a variety of things like turning on the flashlight, opening an app, and launching the camera. The device is pre-installed with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow topped with the company's EMUI 4.0 software.
Other features that are similar to the P9 are the USB Type-C charging port and the 3,000mAh battery that supports fast charging. The device will be available in black, white, and blue which are all designed to be glossy.
