Huawei Honor 8 release date, price news: Launched in Europe; starts at €399

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei is clearly on the roll with their latest mid-range device, which is called the Honor 8. After announcing it in China and in the U.S., the company recently launched the smartphone in Europe.

According to a report, Huawei held a special launch event in Paris, France and introduced the Honor 8 to the public. They debuted two versions of the handset which include a model with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage, and another one with the same RAM count but with 64 GB of internal space. The model will be priced at €399 ($450) and €449 ($507) respectively.

Both versions are now available for sale in southern and western Europe. But those residing in central and eastern Europe will have to wait until the end of September to pick it up. As for the specs and features of the device, it is noted that the handheld device is equipped with a mixture of high-end and mid-end specs.

Under the hood, one will find an octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 950 processor clocked at up to 2.3 GHz. It is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging technology. It also sports a glass back and features a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) LCD display.

It is pre-installed with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and is topped with the Emotion UI 4.1 skin. It is not known yet if it will be updated to Android Nougat soon.

Taking photos with the device is also impressive with the use of its 12-megapixel dual rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and its 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.4 aperture. It is also said to include a fingerprint scanner, an IR port for remote control, and a Knuckle Sense display technology.

The device is available in the colors black, white, and blue. Those who are interested in picking up the phone can do so by heading to Huawei's online store.
