The iMac 2016 and the MacBook Pro 201 will share one big upgrade – the OLED display touch bar. According to the latest reports, the desktop computer will sport the feature on its wireless keyboard.

Products Reviews says that if the OLED display touch bar will be integrated with Apple's wireless keyboards, older versions of the iMac as well as Mac Mini and Mac Pro models should be able to enjoy the feature.

Although it appears that Apple will provide everything needed to make the OLED display touch bar functional in the iMac 2016, its predecessors may need extra hardware to make it work.

Also, the technology will reportedly need the new macOS Sierra, the upcoming operating system introduced by Apple during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) last week.

This won't be an issue, at least for the iMac 2016, since it is expected to be pre-installed with the software when it comes out this fall. The macOS Sierra is also said to roll out around that time.

With regards to the OLED display touch bar's functions, it will basically display all the FN functions, which are usually physical buttons at the very top of keyboards.

It is also said that the OLED display touch bar on the iMac 2016 will include media transport controls, including macOS dock icons from Apple and even ones from some third-parties.

With regards to some of the specs of the iMac 2016, it is expected to house the Intel Kaby Lake processors, which are touted more powerful than the current Skylake processors.

According to Christian Today, the iMac 2016 should be able to support 4K video playback and three-dimensional (3D) graphics with Kaby Lake.

The chipset is expected to be paired with the newest AMD graphics cards based on Polaris 10 and Polaris 11. These cards will likely be the Radeon RX 480, RX 470 or 460.

The iMac 2016 will reportedly be released this September although the Kaby Lake's early 2017 availability could delay that.
