'Jane the Virgin' season 3 release date, spoilers news: Jane's old crush appears; Michael still alive?

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will air soon on The CW, but before the premiere date could arrive, spoilers have come ahead of time to tease fans.
As detailed in a report, the third installment of the satirical romantic comedy-drama telenovela will pick up after the events of the previous season's finale. Followers of the show may recall that in season 2 episode 22, Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) was shot during his wedding night with Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez).
It wasn't revealed if Michael survived the gunshot or ended up dead, but so far, there are no indications of Jane mourning over his grave. Spoilers are scant, though, regarding Michael's fate. And while some are hoping that Jane will find a chance of romance with Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni), several fans don't actually want Michael dead.
As for Rafael, he got heartbroken when Jane chose Michael over him. But in a recent post in Rodriguez's official Instagram account, she is all smiles with her co-stars Baldoni and their TV baby, Mateo Solano. Their photo has got nothing to do with the show, but fans are speculating that Jane and Rafael could get reunited.
It's still too early to tell for now, but rumors suggest that Rafael will find ways to prove to Jane that he is the right guy for her.
Will Rafael be able to do it successfully?
The competition is said to get high as spoilers reveal that Jane's childhood crush Sam (Miles Gaston Villanueva) will join into the plot mix.
As detailed in a report by TV Line, Sam is going to stir up some commotion as he will be making a big impact to Jane life. A love triangle could be brewing next season, and Rafael and Michael, assuming he lives on, will have to step up their game.
"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will start airing brand new episodes on Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
