Fans of the Netflix Marvel Universe are all eagerly awaiting the arrival of "Luke Cage" and "The Defenders," but it looks like they will have to wait until 2018 to see the next installments of "Jessica Jones" and "Daredevil," not to mention the first season of the much awaited "Punisher."

According to Slash Film, Marvel has decided to put all the future projects on hold while they work on "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist," and the superhero team-up "The Defenders." The "Defenders" series will see the team-up among all the Netflix heroes such as Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). It also looks like the team will be going up against an "Avengers-level" threat, based on what was heard during the "Defenders" teaser trailer.

Ever since the release of "Daredevil" back in 2015, Marvel Netflix has been releasing two series per year — "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones" in 2015, and "Daredevil" season 2 and "Luke Cage" this 2016. At that rate, 2017 will get viewers "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders." There's no news on which series they will work on after "Defenders," but fans could expect that one of the three — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the Punisher — will have their series pushed back to 2019.

Fans don't have to fret so much over the 2018 wait. Jessica Jones and Daredevil are sure to be part of "The Defenders" when the series comes up. The Punisher hasn't been mentioned to make an appearance, but based on the popularity of Jon Bernthal's take on Frank Castle, fans might just see an appearance from him as well.

Next up for the Marvel/Netflix lineup is Mike Colter's "Luke Cage" which is coming this Sept. 30. This will then be followed by "Iron Fist" then "The Defenders" in 2017.
