'Jessica Jones' season 2 spoilers: More characters step into the spotlight, Trish Walker to become Hellcat soon?

"Jessica Jones" season 2 promises to bring more characters at the forefront. The show has a huge ensemble and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg plans to take advantage of that in the next season.
"You have to earn secondary character stories. You have to flesh them out enough so they can eventually carry stories of their own, which is very much what season one was about," Rosenberg told Nerdist.
Not only will this allow for more narratives for fans to follow and more key players to enrich the storytelling in "Jessica Jones" season 2, it will also give lead star Krysten Ritter a well-deserved breather.
"I'm hopeful that I can at least give her a day off in the six-month period. This is a very, very hardworking woman. I think it's important that there be some balance," Rosenberg said.
The "Jessica Jones" showrunner revealed that scenes without Ritter in it most likely do not end up in the final cut of the episodes, but this should change in season 2 since it will now put more people in the background to the center stage.
Because of this creative move, fans have one more reason to expect to see more of Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) in "Jessica Jones" season 2, as she is expected to embrace her superhero destiny in the comics as Hellcat.
"Jessica Jones" season 2 will also follow the titular hero as she attempts to move on from killing Kilgrave (David Tennant), who used mind control to do all kinds of horrible things to her.
Rosenberg revealed that Jessica will feel like destroying her psycho ex-boyfriend is a "life-changing experience." And although more characters will share the spotlight, this new layer of her personality will be certainly explored in "Jessica Jones" season 2.
After filming the new season of the series, Ritter will immediately jump into the production of "Defenders" mini-series, where she will fight bad guys alongside Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones).
"Jessica Jones" season 2 is expected to premiere next year.
