'Jessica Jones' season 2 spoilers, update: Multiple villains coming; Trish turns to Hellcat?
Netflix original "Jessica Jones" will be on a long hiatus as season 2 won't be back until 2018. But even if the series is still one and half years away from premiering, teasers and spoilers have already made its way to the web.
The latest to hit headlines is regarding the multiple villains that the eponymous heroine will be facing in the second instalment. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Melissa Rosenberg teased that there isn't going to be just one antagonist this time.
Apparently, the first season's big bad, Kilgrave (David Tennant), created a high impact for the entire series. The character brought the show to a different kind of level, and fans are wondering if the production will be able to top it off. Rosenberg's response is a surprise, saying there's going to be more than one villain in season 2.
She did not give away further details, though, despite being asked on who the villains might be. That would have to be something that fans should wait for and see. Aside from the evil guys who will try to stir up some trouble in New York City, season 2 will also be exploring more of the friendship between Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and Trish Walker (Rachel Taylor).
Reports say that fans are looking forward to a romantic relationship between the two characters. But Rosenberg said that their affair isn't really her focal point right now. She said that she is more interested in the characters' "history" and their "trust and connection" and that it's about female friendship, sisterhood and how things will evolve for them.
There's also one particular thing that fans are wondering. Will Trish's storyline involve following her comic canon transition into superhero Hellcat? Actress Taylor spoke to ET, but unfortunately, she's tight-lipped about her character. She did mention, however, that more of her backstory and her relationship with her overbearing mother will be explored.
"I think there's so many layers to this character," Taylor explained. "One of the things I'm really looking forward to, aside from all of the potential martial arts or athleticism, is seeing her relationship with her mother unfold a little bit more."
