Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her team get to be unwilling stars of a reality dating show in another exciting episode of "Law and Order: SVU" season 17.

Episode 21 is titled "Assaulting Reality," where a contestant named Melanie Connor (Comfort Clinton) of the dating show "Heart's Desire" accuses the leading man of the TV show Ryan Ledder (Adam Gregory) of raping her.

In the trailer for the "Law and Order: SVU" season 17 episode, Melanie watched in horror as Ryan climbed on to her bed and started kissing her. The video was broadcasted on national TV, allowing Rollins (Kelli Giddish) to learn of the case.

Melanie claims she doesn't remember this happening at all and announces live during the show that she was raped, which prompted Benson to step in. The accused defended that it was part of the script.

The investigation promptly begins but Benson's team could not concentrate on the job as the show is getting it all on camera. The production crew reasons that since it is a reality show, therefore they have to film everything.

As hinted in the "Law and Order: SVU" season 17 clip, Benson's team knows that reality shows often don't have "reality" in them and "Heart's Desire" won't be any different.

The team's investigation "Law and Order" season 17 episode 21 will lead them to the married creators of the show and more of the on-screen participants.

The promo showed a glimpse of the "Heart's Desire" leading man locking lips with presumably another contestant. Benson will dig their way up to the truth but the show making them instant stars, which may be in the order of "The Bachelor"-based fictional show could jeopardize everything.

Lately in "Law and Order: SVU" season 17, Benson has been going after famous personalities. In episode 20, they dealt with a renowned photographer who was trying to shun going to prison after raping his client.

"Law and Order: SVU" season 17 episode 21 "Assaulting Reality" will air on Wednesday, May 11 at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
