'Lego Star Wars' DLC release date news: The Phantom Limb DLC will focus on C-3PO's red arm

A trailer has been released for new downloadable content (DLC) for "Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and it will follow the story of C-3PO and how he got his arm replaced by a red one in the movie. A one-shot comic had been released about this story back in April, and it seems that the game will be drawing influence from it.

Game Tyrant reports that the DLC will only be available for free to Playstation 4 owners. Those who play using other platforms will have to pay for it. The DLC contains a level where players will have to take control of a bunch of different droids (along with C-3PO) as they get stranded on a dangerous alien planet.

The comic that the DLC draws inspiration from is called "Star Wars Special: C-3PO: The Phantom Limb." It was one of the comics that were set to come out before "The Force Awakens" was released, but due to constant delays, the comic was published April the following year.

The story follows C-3PO and a handful of droids as they are on a mission to retrieve a droid with the location of a kidnapped Admiral Ackbar. The droid, Omri, was successfully retrieved, but the ship that was holding all of the droids got stuck on a hostile planet, and the droids have to find their way back to the resistance base while fighting off hordes of different creatures.

The DLC seems to have a lot of elements lifted from the comic, from the spider creatures to the droids that C-3PO gets stuck on the planet with. If the story remains faithful to the comic, then fans will find themselves in for a deep character study on the galaxy's favorite protocol droid.

"The Phantom Limb" DLC is now available for Playstation 4 users.
