'Longmire' season 5 plot spoilers, rumors: Main character to die in season finale?
Netflix's "Longmire" has recently been rumored to be up for cancellation, and fans are guessing that the series will end with the death of either Walt (Robert Taylor) or Vic (Katee Sackhoff).
According to Game N Guide, the show is rumored to be on the verge of cancellation, so it may be preparing something big to end with when the finale comes out. The next season is said to focus on the romance between Walt and Vic, so having one of them die in the end could bring the emotional weight to a series finale.
Other fans are actually trying to think more optimistically, and they speculate that instead of one's death, the series will end with a wedding between the two.
On another note, though a character's death is sure to give some emotional weight, that doesn't necessarily mean that it would sit well with viewers. A prime example to this would be the "How I Met Your Mother" finale where the viewers endured 9 seasons waiting for the Mother's appearance only to have her die in the finale. The ending did not sit so well with the viewers at all that there was even an alternate ending officially released where the Mother's death was not even touched upon.
Another report stated that A&E developed "Longmire" in a bid to attract a younger audience for the network, but instead, the show attracted viewers of an older generation.
Netflix, which is currently streaming the show on its online service, has not made any official statements in response to the cancellation rumors, so the show's fate could still be very ambiguous.
On the other hand, Lou Diamond Phillips, one of the series' main stars, posted "until next season" on his Instagram account, which led to many fans speculating that there is still possibility for the show to continue with a sixth season.
