'Luke Cage' release date news: Gets some new set photos following trailer video launch

A lot of hype is surrounding Netflix's "Luke Cage" series as new photos of the characters arrive shortly after the release of its trailer.
The photos offer a new look at the show. Included in the album are stills showing off characters like Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), and Cornell Stokes/Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali) among others.
Cheo Hodari Coker, who has previously worked with shows like "Notorious" and "NCIS: Los Angeles," serves as the show's executive producer. Coker has also written the first two episodes of the TV series.
"Luke Cage" follows the story of a man who, after undergoing a sabotaged experiment, receives unbreakable skin and super strength. He then becomes a fugitive who tries to make a living in the streets of modern-day Harlem.
Luke Cage is famously known as the first black superhero, and he first appeared in comics back when the Black Power movement was prevalent in the 70s. Though Luke Cage is usually the masthead for colored superheroes, the first Marvel movie that will star a black hero will be "Black Panther." Luke Cage, however, has closer roots to street-level heroics and has close ties with another upcoming Netflix hero, Danny Rand, also known as Iron Fist.
The timeline of the story is also unclear. The first time that Colter's Luke Cage made a series appearance was in the first season of "Jessica Jones." He already had his powers and his very own bar at that time. This series seems to be a prequel that will delve into the history of Luke Cage, how he got his powers, and how he ended up owning the bar where he met Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter).
It is unconfirmed if Jessica Jones will appear in "Luke Cage," but it is very likely that she will make a cameo as she is closely tied to Cage in the comics. The two have been married for a while, and they even have a daughter.
"Luke Cage" is set to come to Netflix on Sept 30.
