MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs news update: To feature Touch ID power button and OLED touch-sensitive function keys

MacBook fans are on the constant lookout for the 2016 update to the MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, official news about the laptop upgrade is nowhere to be found.

During the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple released details about the line of laptops they plan to update in spring. However, the MacBook Pro was not included in the list, and fans are wondering if the laptop will ever get a 2016 version.

Reports claim that the 2016 MacBook Pro update is going to push through, and it's even said to be launching this fall. A source from KGI stated that the laptop will be arriving around the fourth quarter of the year. If the claims are true, redesigned 13-inch and 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro models will be coming soon.

Rumors also suggested some features that are included in the upgrade. One is said to be a Touch ID power button while the other one is said to be an OLED touch panel. The laptop is also said to be thinner and lighter and will be equipped with metal injection mold-made (MiM) hinges. Moreover, reports say that it will be featuring butterfly mechanism keyboards.

The upgraded laptop is also said to include a USB-C pory. This is based on the leaked photos that were released which showed four USB-C ports. It is also suggested that support for Thunderbolt 3 is also included.

Details about the display are scarce but it's speculated to sport the same resolution as the present 12-inch MacBook models, which has a 2304x1440-pixel resolution. It's also said that the MacBook Pro (2016) will be carrying the sixth generation Intel processor chips and will run on the macOS Sierra.

It's still uncertain if and when the 2016 MacBook Pro update will launch, but reports say that there are pieces of evidence that point out to its production. Those who are interested in picking up the model when it comes out should stay tuned for more updates.
