Action-adventure video game "Mafia 3" is nearing its release date, and fans who have been waiting for it are already excited to play it. The gap between the last game and the upcoming one has been a long one so fans are relieved that the time has finally come.

"Mafia 3" is scheduled to arrive on Oct. 7, and it will be playable on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. And just like most games, the third installment of the franchise will be having post-launch downloadable content (DLC) packs. As detailed in a report by Game Spot, there will be both free and paid story expansions.

The free DLC will come with new character outfits, meaning protagonist Lincoln Clay can sport a different attire in the middle of his adventure. It's also said that there will be new weapons coming through the "Judge, Jury, and Executioner" pack. Gamers can expect to get this 30 days after the game launches.

Also included in the free DLC are extra vehicle customization options. Players are treated to new wheels, paints jobs, and personalized license plates. Performance boosters will also be added to the mix. Moreover, "Mafia 3" will have free races that can give bonuses like money and additional customization options for players who can reach a top level.

All of these will be free of charge, which means everyone who purchases the game will be entitled to it.

Regarding paid expansions, publisher 2K Games revealed that there will be three major sets. One is called "Faster, Baby!" which is described to highlight stunt driving and car chases. It follows Lincoln teaming up with a former lover to bring down a corrupt Sheriff from New Bordeaux.

The second paid expansion is called "Sign of the Times," and in this set, Lincoln will be on the trail of a deadly cult which is the suspect to reported ritual slayings. The last of the three expansion packs is "Stones Unturned" which will see Lincoln paired up with a CIA agent.
