'Mafia 3' release date news: Collector's Edition details revealed; official soundtrack list
Action-adventure video game "Mafia 3" is still months away from its official release but fans are treated to an early surprise with the Collector's Edition. Details have been revealed already and it's something that gamers can definitely look forward to.
According to a report by IGN, 2K and Hangar 13 have finally shared to the public the contents of the game's upcoming Collector's Edition, which was already announced back in April. But unlike its first reveal, fans now have an idea of what they will be getting if they purchase the edition.
There's a lot in store for those who will purchase the bundle. As detailed in "Mafia 3's" official website, the Collector's Edition will be packed with physical and digital items that will really take a player a trip down to the year 1986. Along with the full game and bonus digital content that are part of the Deluxe Edition, the bundle will be coming with the exclusive two-LP vinyl soundtrack and score collection.
One contains some of the songs by the '60s hitmakers like Otis Redding & Carla Thomas, Sam Cooke, The Shadows of the Knight, The Rolling Stones, Rufus Thomas, Jimi Hendrix, and The Animals, among others. Some of the songs included are "Chain Gang," "Go Go Shoes," "Slip Away," "The House of the Rising Sun," and more. Gamers will surely be jamming along to an eclectic mix of rock, rhythm and blues and pop.
On the other hand, the other 180 gram vinyl contains the game's original game score which is composed by Jesse Harlin and Jim Bonney. With a rhythm and blues genre, the game score is inspired by the protagonist's emotional story. Aside from the music, they will also get a 56-page art book, collectible art prints, faux leather drink coasters and dog tags for main character Lincoln Clay. The DLC Season Pass is also included.
Game Spot noted that "Mafia 3" will launch on Oct. 7 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
