'Major Crimes' spoilers, plot news: upcoming episode will handle drug abuse among celebrities

The next episode in 'Major Crimes' has been titled "Off the Wagon," and it will have the team dealing with the death of a young actor who overdosed on drugs. Meanwhile, Rusty Beck (Graham Patrick Martin) will be dealing with his biological mother who has gotten pregnant.
As reported by Ecumenical News, the episode will be a commentary on the drug abuse culture of Hollywood. Drug-related deaths are not so uncommon when it comes to celebrities. The likes of Chris Farley, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Heath Ledger, and, most recently, Prince have lost their lives because of drugs. It would be interesting for fans to see where the show would take the issue. "Major Crimes" is known for basing episodes off of real cases, so some viewers may be able to connect the episode to a celebrity's death.
In the meantime, Rusty will have to handle his mother's pregnancy. His mother abandoned him when he was very young, so seeing that she has gotten pregnant again may cause some trauma to resurface. Will his mother love this child more than him? After recently reconciling with her, Rusty has some hurdles to jump with his newfound relationship.
The previous episode also teased the possible departure of G.W. Bailey as Louie Provenza. Provenza could be retiring soon and some take the recent developments as a slow burn to his eventual leave.
Speaking of leaving, "Rizzoli and Isles" has been announced to end with the seventh season, and fans of "Major Crimes" are seeing it as a sign that their show is ending too. "R&I" was one of their highest rated series so with that gone, maybe "Major Crimes" is up next on the chopping board. No other news has been reported on it, so fans will just have to wait for TNT to seal the show's fate.
The next episode for "Major Crimes" will air on Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. EDT on TNT.
