'Mass Effect Andromeda' release date: Scientists and astronomers help out in game's science and technology
"Mass Effect Andromeda" developer Bioware has been a bit stingy when it comes to details on the upcoming action role-playing third-person shooter, but they still drop a tease or two in social media.
Bioware creative director Mac Walters revealed during a Twitter exchange with a fan that they take science and technology "very seriously" in the upcoming game.
He said that in the past, the studio "informally" worked with scientists and astronomers in order to make "Mass Effect" as scientifically accurate as it can be. It appears that the upcoming game underwent such process as well.
"Mass Effect Andromeda" producer Michael Gamble has also been sharing details on the development of the game. Based on his tweets, the production is going excellent with progress being made.
"Another home run by the team. A great mission that was unique in design, narrative, and art direction," Gamble said regarding a "Mass Effect Andromeda" review at their office.
As far as what the open-world gameplay of "Mass Effect Andromeda" has to offer, here is what creative director Mac Walters has to say in an interview with GamesRadar.
"When you go into an open world you need to adapt and you can't just do things the way you've always done them," Walters explained.
"So that, in addition to what we were saying about the new [Frostbite] engine, has forced us to rethink some of [the old] mechanics, and systems and how they work," he added.
Although details are scarce about "Mass Effect Andromeda" at this time, more information is being saved for the fall. The game's world and the protagonist, who is only known by the name Ryder, is expected to be fully fleshed out by that time.
"Mass Effect Andromeda" is one of the most highly-anticipated 2017 releases. In a previous leak, it was hinted that there will be never-before-seen worlds and breeds of aliens to befriend or battle.
