'Masters of Sex' season 4 spoilers, plot news 2016: Virginia and Bill will reunite; Libby finds new love interest
Only a few weeks left until drama television series "Master of Sex" returns to the small screen for its fourth season. The story will continue to tell what happens next after protagonists Dr. William "Bill" Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia "Ginny" Johnson (Lizzy Caplan) parted ways in the previous season.
According to spoiler reports, the fourth installment of the show guarantees a reunion between the two. Although, they will still be going through the process of parting ways and living in a world without each other.
Bill was last seen facing a lawsuit and a prostitution charge while Ginny packed up her things and moved away with perfumer Dan Logan (Josh Charles). But being apart didn't work out so well for their personal lives. Sheen even said during a panel at the Television Critics Association (TCA) that Bill has reached a rock bottom in his life.
He has no wife, he has no lover and even almost lost his career. Not everything is a disaster as Bill will realize some things and gain some new perspective. He will also notice how things will start to loosen up in him that despite being accused of prostitution and pedophilia, he will still feel somewhat free.
As for Ginny, Caplan revealed that her character will also be going through a rough time. For starters, her happy ever after with Dan will remain a fantasy. The two will plan to marry, but it will not push through as they will break up eventually.
Caplan also shared that since the upcoming season will be set in the late '60s to '70s, a more liberated America will be featured in the brand new episodes. Spoilers also say that Libby Masters (Caitlin FitzGerald) will be going through her own challenges.
In the premiere episode, she will be a newly divorced woman, and she will come to a point in life where she will feel alone. But it won't be long until she starts connecting with people again. She will also be reexamining her relationships with Bill and Ginny.
Additionally, while Ginny and Bill will be contemplating on their decision to part ways, Libby will be meeting a new love interest.
"Masters of Sex" season 4 will premiere on Sept. 11 at 10 p.m. EDT on Showtime.
