As fans await Microsoft Surface Pro 5, more details about the company's next plans have emerged. There's a new leak featuring the so-called Surface All-in-One (AIO) making the rounds online.

DigiTimes is reporting that Microsoft is working on an AIO personal computer set to be released this fall and is being billed as an alternative to the Microsoft Surface Book 2.

The publication reports that since the Surface Book 2 will be delayed to "the first half of 2017" due to late shipments of the Intel Kaby Lake processor, Microsoft will release the Surface AIO instead.

Since the AIO device will take the place of the Surface Book 2 this year, it can be expected that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released later this year.

However, there are rumors that even the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be delayed since it will also use the Kaby Lake processor. This, of course, makes sense since Surface Pro 4 already ahs Skylake.

If the Microsoft Surface AIO will be released later this year as DigiTimes claims, it is likely that Microsoft will be using it as well to fill in for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.

This all hinges in the choice of processor for the highly-anticipated Surface Pro iteration. After all, the device is called All-in-One and can practically be a replacement of the hybrid as well.

Another proof that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is being delayed to 2017 is a photo by Indian app developer Shubhan Chemburkar featuring Microsoft's wall that outlines its hardware releases.

There are three devices up for a 2017 release and there is only one being prepared for this year and this is believed to be the Microsoft Surface AIO.

With that said, users will indeed have to wait for early 2017 to see the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. Fans will simply have to look forward to PC that company is working on first.
