'Mr. Robot' season 2 spoilers, plot news: No villains in upcoming season, Elliot's biggest enemy is himself

Now that Elliot has realized that Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) is no more than a product of his mind a mere projection of his late father, the hacker is doing all he could to keep his alter ego "at bay."
"Mr. Robot" season 2 will follow Elliot as his life is turned upside down following his realization that Mr. Robot is not real.
"He's ostracized himself so that he can keep Mr. Robot at bay as much as possible," show creator Sam Esmail told USA Today of Elliot's disposition in "Mr. Robot" season 2.
"He thinks that by controlling every aspect of his life, and exiling himself from anyone he cares about, this is the path to curing this very serious mental illness," he added.
However, Slater does not think that Elliot will be cured of his illness when he is able to get Mr. Robot out of his head. With that said, it appears that Elliot has to try another way to deal with his condition in "Mr. Robot" season 2.
Thinking he was being compelled by Mr. Robot to hack Evil Corp, Elliot was able to engineer a full-scale hack that erased everyone's debt.
In "Mr. Robot" season 2, it will be all about the Elliot and the rest of the fsociety dealing (in various and conflicting ways) with what they just pulled off.
Esmail said that "Mr. Robot" season 2 won't add new characters and even villains as it will simply continue the arc from the first season.
"Mr. Robot" season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, July 13 at 10 p.m. EDT on USA Network.
