'Narcos' season 2 spoilers, plot news: New protagonist and story after Pablo Escobar's death

"Narcos" season 2 will feature the inevitable death of its central character Pablo Escobar played by Wagner Moura, and after that, the show is expected to shift its focus.
Instead of wrapping up the series, the Netflix hit will continue. "Narcos" season 2 will set up the rise of the Cali cartel. According to series composer Pedro Bromfman, there will be new faces to see.
"We start meeting a lot of new characters in season 2, and we start understanding how the situation expanded from Medellin to Cali and everything that took place," he told iDigital Times.
Bromfman stated that although the Colombian drug kingpin is central to the show, the story will still revolve around drug dealing when Escobar meets his doom in "Narcos" season 2.
"It just shifts places, but it keeps moving. As long as there are people buying drugs, there'll be bad guys trying to provide them and killing people and doing things," the artist said.
"As long as they are illegal, and as long there are people interested in them, apparently there's no stopping it. Now it's in Mexico, but it did go around. It did go around for a long time," he added.
In "Narcos" season 2, Escobar's death will be recreated. In real life, he was shot by the Colombian National Police. Before that, though, his cartel was warring against the Los Pepes, a vigilante group comprised of Escobar's enemies.
Led by Escobar's former employees Don Berna and Fidel Castaño, the Los Pepes sought to start a war against their former boss' group, a war that somehow led to Escobar's death.
The aforementioned leaders might be two of the new characters expected to appear in "Narcos" season 2 when it reportedly premieres this August.
As per reports, "Narcos" season 2 will drop on Friday, Aug. 26 since the first season debuted last year Aug. 28, which is also a Friday—a day Netflix usually premieres its shows.
