'NCIS: LA' season 8 updates: show starts shooting this July

Season 8 of CBS' police procedural drama "NCIS: Los Angeles" will start shooting in July. Such was confirmed by Rick Tunnel, production manager for "NCIS: Los Angeles," via a Twitter post.

With the change in showrunner, fans have been biting their nails for the upcoming season. Executive producer John Peter Kousakis is very positive, however, and is constantly active on social media, always assuring fans of the show that they are planning something spectacular.

R. Scott Gemill, the new showrunner who has replaced seven-year "NCIS" helmer Shane Brennan, is also positive with where they are taking "NCIS: Los Angeles" to and he assures fans that they have everything planned. It is also reported that he has big plans for the Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi (Daniela Ruah) romance.

After season seven, fans have been speculating on what to expect for the upcoming season eight. A lot of buzz is surrounding Deeks and his possible proposal to Kensi; the lovers will be taking their relationship to the next level as they both have already decided to live together. Executive producer Gemill said in an interview with TV Guide, "I already know how we're going to do it. It's just, the fans have waited long enough that we want it to be worth the wait."

Callen (Chris O'Donnell), clueless about his family and origin, will spend time in the season to find out about who he really is. After discovering that he is the son of a KGB major named Nikita Alexsandr Reznikov, Callen will surely dig deeper and find out more about his identity.
