'NCIS' season 14 air date, spoilers & plot news: New characters joining; Tony DiNozzo Senior appears as guest star

Only a few days left until "NCIS" returns to the small screen for season 14. There will be a lot of changes coming, including the addition of new characters.
According to TV Guide, Wilmer Valderrama ("That 70's Show), Jennifer Esposito ("Mistresses") and Duane Henry ("The Dark Knight Rises") will be portraying the new characters. Valderrama will be playing Special Agent Nick Torres who is described by TV Guide as a "deep-cover undercover agent." No one will be able to recognize him though as he has been going around cases with different identities for several years already.
A report noted that the upcoming season will kick off with Leroy Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the team working on a case with Torres. Esposito on the other hand will be taking on the role of Alex Quinn, an instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
Prior to taking on the life of a teacher, Quinn worked in the field but stopped after "something significant happened," according to executive producer Gary Glasberg in an interview with TV Guide.
The last new face in the series is Henry but he was already introduced in the last two episodes of season 13 as Officer Clayton Reeves. He is now a full-fledged member of the team after being recruited. More of his character is expected to be revealed in the upcoming season.
The arrival of the new stars came just in time to fill in the empty space of Michael Weatherly, who decided to permanently leave the show. Playing Tony DiNozzo, Weatherly's character will be missing in action in the episodes to come. But fans are in for a surprise as a veteran is said to return as a guest star.
As detailed in Yahoo! TV, Robert Wagner will be appearing in one of the episodes of season 14. He will be reprising his role as Tony DiNozzo Senior. It's not known yet though what he will be bringing to the show so fans will have to stay tuned to find out.
"NCIS" Season 14 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
