'NCIS' season 14 spoilers: Wilmer Valderrama's role detailed

"NCIS" season 14 will no longer include the fan-favorite Agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly). This opened up to the arrival of a character that viewers will certainly follow.
"That 70's Show" alum Wilmer Valderrama was added to the fold and will be series regular in "NCIS" season 14. His character does not have a name yet, but he is expected to fill the void left by DiNozzo.
Valderrama's character is "once grounded NCIS field agent who accepted a deep-cover assignment years ago and never resurfaced."
His disappearance had many believing he was killed in action. Turns out, he is very much alive but he isn't the same person that left. In "NCIS" season 14, his co-workers will see first-hand what he became following the mission.
"Now, he's back and his dedication to job and country has left him an unpredictable, charismatic loose cannon," the description for the "NCIS" season 14 newcomer continued.
The mission itself is being kept a secret, but Valderrama's role definitely sounds like the show will have a lot of layers to unfurl with it.
As far as personality is concerned, "NCIS" showrunner Gary Glasberg hinted that Valderrama's "classic" character will allow the actor to show off his dramatic chops as well as his comedic whiz.
"Fans are going to see him like they've never seen him before. This is going to be fun. We're thrilled he's coming aboard," Glasberg told Variety.
Valderrama, on the other hand, wants fans to go into "NCIS" season 4 expecting the unexpected. "We are gonna have some fun," the actor promised. "Hope you guys are ready," he continued.
From the sound of it, in "NCIS" season 14, viewers are going to get the same entertainment and excitement that Weatherly's character brings on the show come.
"NCIS" season 14 will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
