'New Girl' season 6 episode 9 spoilers: Schmidt wants to be a manly man; Jess, Robby try casual relationship

Schmidt (Max Greenfield) learns how to be a manly man from Nick (Jake Johnson) in the next episode of \"New Girl.\" | YouTube/FOX

When Schmidt's (Max Greenfield) best efforts are just not good enough, he turns to Nick (Jake Johnson) for help in the next episode of "New Girl." Will adapting Nick's cool attitude be enough for Schmidt to gain some respect from his difficult house contractor?

The preview for the episode titled "Es Good" shows a snippet of Nick trying to teach Schmidt some gestures to make him look less of his usually guarded, non-compromising self, and more of the cool, masculine guy who can level with the house contractor, Jason (Bill Gardell). It seems that the two of them will both have a tough time turning Schmidt into someone that he's just not meant to be.

Will he succeed in gaining Jason's respect trying to learn a manlier way to wiggle his shoulders, or will his true self break right through and earn that respect his own way?

Meanwhile, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Robby (Nelson Franklin) will be testing the limits of their casual relationship by going on a double date. Jess has previously told Robby that she finally felt the "oomph" she initially thought was missing in their budding relationship, but it looks like the two of them have decided to take things slow. What realizations will they gain from this double date? Will it eventually help them decide on a committed relationship with each other, or will their dates inadvertently pull them apart?

On the other hand, Winston (Lamorned Morris) and Cece (Hannah Simone) will be weighing in on the pros and cons of being in a committed relationship. How will this debate play out? Who wins and who backs down? What pros and cons will they both realize from their own relationships? Will the rest of the Lofties join in and take sides?

Find out when "New Girl" season 6 episode 9 airs on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 8:31 p.m. EST on FOX.
