Nintendo NX release date, specs rumors: NX, other rumored consoles' releases 'seem imminent'
Tony Bartel, the senior executive of GameStop revealed that Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are definitely going to release new consoles in the near future. He said that the releases "seem imminent." Does this include the highly anticipated Nintendo NX?
The statement added fuel to the rumor that several consoles will be released from major makers before the year ends.
According to a report by Gamespot, Bartel expressed his own perspective about the video game industry during his speech at an event hosted by GameStop.
"Although we have not modeled extensive growth for new innovation in this presentation, we are very pleased to see the introduction of technology like virtual reality and rumored new console launches, some of which seem imminent," said the chief operating officer of GameStop.
However, Bartel did not provide further details when asked, which console he was referring about during his speech. "As usual, we know more than we can share."
Although none of the companies that are rumored to develop new consoles has confirmed anything with regard to the speculations, Bartel's statement could be true as talks about new devices have been circulating online for several months now.
Nintendo NX is said to be under development, according to reports. It will carry a heavily customized hardware from AMD called, Polaris GPU. Rumor has it that this console will be more powerful than the current PlayStation 4. There are speculations that Nintendo intends to complete the development of the console before 2016 ends. Their goal is to make sure they dominate the console market after struggling to compete for many years.
Reports about Sony developing an upgraded version of PlayStation 4 has been a subject of numerous topics over the Internet for quite some time. Supposedly, it is called PlayStation 4K as it supports ultra-high 4K display output. It is also said to provide better support for another innovative console, the PlayStation VR.
These rumors have yet to be confirmed by the parties involved. It is expected that each of these companies will provide official statements in the future.
