NVIDIA GTX 1060 released: Mobile version leaked, desktop card churns out impressive 1080p and 1440p gaming performance
A mobile version of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 has been spotted in the wild. A listing popped at the GPU-Z app, showing what the graphics card will be all about when it goes mobile.
In a nutshell, the mobile graphics card offers the same set of specs as its desktop version. The only change to expect is the lower clock speed, which is not too much of a shock.
Its base clock speed is at 1405 MHz, but it can go as high as 1,671MHz. The desktop version of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 boasts a slightly higher base clock speed of 1506 MHz with the boost clock speed at 1709 MHz. On the side of the memory clock speed, it is at 2002 MHz.
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 mobile version comes with 1280 CUDA cores, which is the same number of CUDA cores in its desktop counterpart.
The mobile chip also showed off 48 Render Output Units and 106 Texture Memory units. The pixel fill rate is at 67.4 gigapixels per second will the texture fill rate bumps up at 148.9 gigatexels per second.
The mobile version of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 is expected to offer 6 GB of GDDR5 memory, with 192-bit bus width and a bandwidth of 192.2 GB per second to boot.
As for the desktop version of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, the video card is now available at $250. According to GameSpot, the midrange NVIDIA chip churned out a Maxwell-level performance in the 1080p gaming front.
It was shown to be much faster than AMD's RX 480. The same can be said in the 1440p benchmark, where it was shown to be 23 percent faster than the RX 480 and 5 percent faster than the GTX 980.
On the 4K gaming department, GameSpot said that the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 will be able to run intense and demanding games at said resolution, but it is not recommended for this type of gaming.
