'Once Upon a Time' season 5 spoilers news: Hades asks for Emma's help in 'Firebird'
The next episode of "Once Upon a Time" season 5 will show the depths of Hades' (Greg Germann) love for Zelena (Rebecca Mader). Titled "Firebird," episode 20 follows the lord of the Underworld do whatever it takes to get his dearest to safety.
Zelena was kidnapped by Gold (Robert Carlyle) and Pan (Robbie Kay) on her way to her date with Hades. For Hades to get her back, Gold wants him to terminate his contract with him for his unborn child, which Hades is prepared to do. But knowing how cunning the man he is dealing with, the lord of the Underworld knows that Gold will not keep his end of the bargain.
This leads Hades to prime himself for contingencies, pushing him to approach unlikely allies for aid. In one of the sneak peeks for "Once Upon a Time" season 5, an extremely desperate Hades turns to Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and the heroes to ask for their "help," a word he cannot even come to utter without buckling.
Despite Regina volunteering herself to help him save his sister, Hades insists for Emma to be the one to help him instead. If they are successful in bringing Zelena back alive, the lord of the Underworld is prepared to erase her and the group's names from the tombstones.
Emma appears to be tempted by the offer while everyone else believes that Hades is not to be trusted and is only bluffing. The second "Once Upon A Time" season 5 sneak peek shows Hades ripping the contract apart in front of Gold, Pan, and Zelena.
For now, there's no telling what each party has up their sleeves. But since this is "Once Upon a Time," there's reason to believe this deal will not be done in a breeze.
However, part of Emma's responsibility in helping Hades has something to do with going through "a land of no escape," as the "Once Upon A Time" season 5 promo calls it. Emma traverses it with Hook (Colin O'Donoghue).
As all this goes on, crumbs of Emma's past prior to the Storybrooke, most specifically "a time in her life we haven't visited since the pilot," as noted by "Once Upon A Time" co-creator Edward Kitsis to TV Line, will be revealed in the episode. By the end of the clip, Hook persuades Emma to let him go, which may be her only chance to get out of Storybrooke.
"Once Upon A Time" season 5 episode 20 "Firebird" will air on Sunday, May 1, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
